Michael Berliant, Owner of Gentle Home Services was the Guest Speaker at the first meeting of the year of the Midwest Unit of the Aging Life Care Professional Association. The topic Michael was asked to address was entitled Changes in Homecare.
As Michael explained, private-duty homecare is going through historic changes nationally as well as in Illinois. Some of the topics he discussed were US Department of Labor and Illinois Department of Labor Law Changes, Minimum Wage Increases, Affordable Care Act and the Misclassification of Homecare Workers.
The meeting was well attended by mostly Geriatric Care Managers from as far away as Peoria, IL. The meeting was held at the Weinberg Community Gidwitz Place for Assisted Living in Deerfield, IL.
The members of the Midwest Chapter of the Aging Life Care Association™ conduct their practices within the States of Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Kentucky, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, Nebraska, North Dakota, Ohio, South Dakota, Wisconsin, and Ontario.
They are an association of private practitioners whose purpose is the development, advancement and promotion of humane and dignified social, psychological, and health care for the elderly and their families. The association is committed to working toward the highest quality of care for the elderly and their families through education, advocacy, and high standards of practice.
